Vanessa is an information designer at Voilà:. Her role is to understand data and information, and to transform them into clear and engaging visuals.
Fascinated by the living world, she began her academic journey by studying Biology at the University of Montreal, where she developed an interest in biodiversity, ecology, and evolution. She later chose to pursue a career in scientific communication, after earning a master’s degree in Biomedical Communication at the University of Toronto, which allowed her to combine her interests in art and science. It was during this time that she discovered information design and data visualization, finding in them a language that enabled her to present complex subjects in a clear and elegant way. For her final master’s project, she collaborated with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) to conceptualize a platform that centralizes data from psychiatric services for children and youth in the Toronto area. After completing her studies, she joined the design team of a pan-Canada project aimed at standardizing clinical research training.
Joining Voilà: represents an opportunity for her to apply her design skills and interests to impactful projects aligned with causes she deeply cares about, such as the environment and social responsibility.
