Estelle Villemin is a graphic designer and scientific illustrator. Her role is to provide clear and aesthetic visual solutions that are tailored to the customer’s needs. As a graduate in graphic design, scientific illustration and scientific journalism, she enjoys that her many hats allow her to consider projects from different angles.
Estelle worked for more than a year as a science journalist among the editorial staff of L’Esprit Sorcier, under the supervision of animator and journalist Frédéric Courant. She wrote about biodiversity, volcanoes and the ocean – among other topics – before focusing on scientific illustration. After several publications of illustrated books from French publishing houses such as Hachette, Quae and Milan Presse, she finally flew over to discover what Montreal winters are like. She worked as a graphic designer at iF::créativité collaborative alongside brand strategist Nathalie Houde for one year before joining Voilà’s team.
Estelle completed the two year BTS (Higher Technician Certificate) for printed visual communication at École Estienne in Paris before starting her DSAA (Higher Diploma in Applied Arts) for Design of Scientific Illustration. She has worked at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris alongside the spider expert Christine Rollard, her illustration diploma partner. Following her interest in writing, she completed the Master 2 in Scientific Journalism, Culture and Communication at Paris Diderot University. In parallel with learning about data visualization at Voilà:, Estelle takes an interest in developing her practical skills. Notably, in 2019 she completed a course at the Institute of Graphic Communications and printability covering the entire process of producing graphical materials.
She has illustrated a poster on biodiversity published by Milan presse which has been distributed to 1.2 million schoolchildren in France, as well as the « Livre pour tout savoir sur le corps humain le + facile au monde » from the Simplissime Enfants collection, published by Éditions Hachette.
